Former England and Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has claimed that Arsenal summer signing Lucas Torreira could soon be on the same level as Chelsea star N’Golo Kante.
Torreira joined the Gunners from Sampdoria in the summer transfer window and has quickly established himself at the Emirates.
The Uruguay international midfielder has scored his first Arsenal goal during his side’s 4-2 win over Tottenham on Sunday evening at the Emirates.
Therefore, Collymore believes the 22-year-old is on track to win individual honours if he keeps his form up and Arsenal’s hopes.
“If Arsenal don’t lose between now and the end of January, I will gladly accept that, once again, they are the real deal,” Collymore wrote in the Daily Mirror.
“Unai Emery’s men were fantastic against Tottenham on Sunday, and in Lucas Torreira, they have one of the players of the season already.”
“If the Uruguayan keeps his form going for the rest of the campaign, he is going to be elevated to the same bracket as N’Golo Kante, and we may even see him winning the same individual pots Kante has picked up in recent seasons.”
Meanwhile, the Gunners are back in the Premier League action on Wednesday night as they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford.
After beating Tottenham, Emery side sit fourth in the Premier League table with 30 points and eight points clear of their midweek rivals.
