Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has claimed that Eden Hazard would love to play for Real Madrid despite having said that he’s happy at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard has frequently opened up on his future as the Belgium international has recently revealed that he really wants to play at Santiago Bernabeu.

But Essien, who played for both clubs, believes interest from La Liga giants would be hard to turn down for Hazard.

“He’s been playing in the Premier League very well and looks fantastic at the moment,” Essien said.

“Hazard is one of the best players in the world.”

“The interest of Real Madrid, I only hear from people in the media.”

“But I mean when Real Madrid come calling… every player would love to play for them.”

“He’s happy at Chelsea though and hopefully we can keep him.”

Chelsea will play against Watford tonight at Vicarage Road and Hazard is set to be in action as the Blues look to bounce back following a shock 1-0 home defeat to Leicester last weekend.

“In this moment we have to think about us; only about our team. The [Watford] match is difficult, we know very well,” Sarri said.

“Now we have to think about the reaction after the [Leicester] match, just in order to prepare in the right way for the next match.”
