Liverpool as one of the great football clubs in the Premier League have had a number of magnificent players over the years.

The Reds signed many players during their Premier League, but they also sold others due to different reasons.

However, there are some players whom the Merseysiders regret selling. These players had the potential to offer much more, and they have made their mark at Anfield.

5. Fernando Torres – Striker

It was so shocking for Liverpool fans to hear that striker Fernando Torres signed for Premier League rivals Chelsea.

It was on 31 January 2011, when Torres completed his move to the Stamford Bridge on a five-and-a-half-year contract. The Spaniard reportedly cost the Blues £50 million.

Torres has been an outstanding striker at Anfield as bagged 81 goals in 142 appearances in all competitions for the then-Roy Hodgson’s side.

The Spanish international was sold only three weeks following Hodgson’s dismissal. The club appointed the club legend Kenny Dalglish but they struggled a lot to get results in the Premier League.

4. Raheem Sterling – Winger

Sterling was signed by then Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez from Queens Park Rangers Academy in February 2010.

The England international winger moved to Manchester City in July 2015 for an initial £44 million.

With Sterling’s current performances at Manchester City under manager Pep Guardiola, the Merseysiders might still be shaking their heads.

The 23-year-old has collected 20 goals and 7 assists in 37 appearances for the Citizens this season.

3. Luis Suarez – Striker

Luis Suarez is certainly one of the best number 9 players in the world right now. The Uruguayan international joined Liverpool in January transfer window of 2011 on deadline day from Ajax.

The then the striker has been magnificent as he managed 82 goals in 133 appearances for the Reds in a period of four seasons.

Suarez has won the Premier League Golden Boot and the Premier League Player of the Season in the 2013-14 season.

Suarez, who was easily the best player in the Liverpool squad for close to 3 years, has eventually moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2014.
