2018 Ballon d’Or list of 30 nominees was revealed on Monday. Unlike the last 10 years, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are facing their biggest challenge ever. The truth of the matter is that we might see a different winner this year. The question is who will lift the coveted award this year. If justice is really done accordingly, we believe Ballon d’Or final top 6 should look like this.
6. Lionel Messi- FCB/Argentina

Lionel Messi will no doubt remain one of the best footballers of all-time. We have enjoyed watching him compete with Cristiano Ronaldo for these prestigious awards for a decade now.
However, in 2018, the best place he can finish is sixth if the contest is fair. Forget the name, what did he achieve this year. He scored 45 goals in 54 appearances to help Barcelona lift La Liga and Copa del Rey double. He scored only 1 goal in Russia FIFA World Cup. Surely, he also knows he also under-achieved. He might be the best but this year, step aside Leo.
5. Cristiano Ronaldo- JUV/RMA/Portugal

This year, despite scoring 15 goals in 13 matches to help Real Madrid lift the third consecutive UEFA Champions League crown, we can all agree Cristiano Ronaldo is not the favorite. We also enjoyed his goals in the World Cup but he could not help his country reach the quarterfinals. He has deserved all five other Ballon d’Or awards but this year, he is fifth best.
4. Kylian Mbappe-PSG/France
• 2018 World Cup Best Young Player
• 2018 The Best Men’s Player (4th)
• 2018 FIFPro World XI
• 2018 Golden Boy nominee
• 2018 Trophée Kopa nominee
• 2018 Ballon d’Or nominee

Last weekend, Kylian Mbappe wowed the World with a wonderful performance to destroy Lyon. The 19-year-old netted 4 goals in a 5-1 win to take over all the headlines.
The boy continues to shine and he fully deserves it. This year alone, he won 3 trophies with PSG (Ligue 1 & 2 Cups). He went on to score 4 times to help his country lift FIFA World Cup 2018. In fact, he became only the second teenager after Legend Pele to score in the final. He deserves to be nominated but 4th place will be his best chance.
