Manchester City pays their defenders very well indeed. Nicolas Otamendi earns an equal salary to his Captain Vincent Kompany. The Argentine takes home £120,000 per week. This is a good salary for a defender.

Manchester City signed Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte for £57 million in January 2018. The centre-back is coming to replace Club Captain Vincent Kompany who is struggling with injuries and age. The Belgian is coming to the end of his career but he still pockets £120,000 per week.
