Manchester United will face Liverpool in a must-win Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday. The Red Devils have already lost four matches against Brighton, Tottenham, West Ham and Manchester City. Jose Mourinho will hope his players can show the fight and desire they displayed against Liverpool at Anfield. The Portuguese has another problem that needs urgent attention. A total of 11 players in his squad a nearing their contract end and something needs to be done soon. Today, we want to look at those eleven big stars the club could lose for free next summer.
6. Valencia & Young- Old Guards

Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia made a serious mistake few weeks ago when he liked an Instagram post calling for Jose Mourinho to be sacked. He apologized later giving a flimsy excuse but the manager dropped him for the home game against Newcastle United. At 33, with 19-year-old Diogo Dalot waiting in the wings, the Ecuadorian time at Old Trafford might be coming to an end. To make matters worse, his contract expires next summer.
Ashley Young situation is much better even though he is not playing regularly like last season. His versatility means the manager can deploy him in either wings or fullback position when there is a gap. He was impressive last season and he fully deserves another season to take to his 34th birthday.
5. Smalling, Jones & Darmian- Defenders

Chris Smalling has been great for Jose Mourinho and before him Louis Van Gaal. He is the most consistent centre-back in the team. The Portuguese trust him and there should be no problem for him to get a contract extension to avoid losing him for free next summer.
Phil Jones and Matteo Darmian might be allowed to leave the club as soon as January. The England defender has never really managed to get a fine run on the pitch due to injuries and poor form. He promised so much when he arrived but he has been a disappointment. Matteo Darmian has been poor ever since he arrived. It is shocking that Van Gaal thought he will be better than Rafael when he pushed out the Brazilian.
4. Mata, Herrera and Pereira- Spanish Group
Jose Mourinho said he is willing to retain Juan Mata and fans favourite Ander Herrera even if they don’t play regularly. Therefore, the club needs to sort out their contract situation to avoid a scramble for their services from La Liga clubs in January. The two will be out of contract next summer.
Pereira was hoping the manager will give him more minutes on the pitch this season. However, the competition in midfield is tough. He has to be better than Fellaini, Matic, Fred and Pogba or else wait for FA Cup to start in January.
