The world most valuable players report has been released. European research body CIES Football Observatory takes a look at several factors to come up with what current top players will be worth in the current market. The areas of concentration include age, performance, length of current contract and marketability among others. Today, we want to look at the top six most valuable football players right now according to their new report.

6. Lionel Messi- £149.2 Million

Five times World Player of the year Lionel Messi is ranked sixth on the list. The 31-year-old multiple-Ballon d’Or continues to score goals. Last season he helped Barcelona lift La Liga and Copa del Rey double.

However, his age and marketability mean he is only valued at £149.2 Million at the moment despite signing a new four-year contract. Some might not agree with this numbers especially because Coutinho, Salah, Neymar, and Kane are ahead of him.

5. Philippe Coutinho- £149.8 Million

Barcelona spent £142 million to sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool in January 2018. The Reds valuation was almost perfect according to this new report. The difference is only £7.8 million. However, there are reports that Camp Nou is not happy with his performances so far. This season he has netted only 5 goals in 15 appearances. He was expected to step up when Messi was injured two weeks ago but he failed.

4. Mohamed Salah- £151.2 Million

Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah in 2017 from AS Roma for only €50m. The Egyptian shined in 2017/18 season scoring 44 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions. Now, according to this report, he is valued at £151.2 Million. The 26-year-old has like 10 years to shine in the highest level.
