Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has confirmed that the club will make more signings as they already released other 12 players this summer.
The Gunners, who recently employed Unai Emery as Arsene Wenger replacement, have already completed the signings of Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno and Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Therefore, Gazidis has claimed that the North London side will bring in more players before the transfer window closes on August 9.
“We have brought in a new head of recruitment in Sven Mislintat and alongside him is Huss Fahmy who has been involved with negotiating a lot of our player contracts and also we have Raul Sanllehi who joins us from Barcelona,” Gazidis told a fan event at the Emirates Stadium.
“So we really have a collective effort now, in terms of how we identify players and then how we take forward our interest and of course Unai is a huge part of that as well. This is now a different way of doing things, one with a very, very accomplished team of professionals who we have spent time bedding into the club.”
“Unai has been in the thick of that process in terms of what we need in the squad, we’ve signed two new players so far this summer and there will be more to come.”
Arsenal have also announced a number of players who are released from the club including Jack Wilshere and captain Per Mertesacker.
“To all the players leaving us, we thank them all for their contributions to the club and wish them the best of health and success in their futures,” read a statement posted on the club’s website.
“To the players joining and signing new contracts, we look forward to their continued development with us in the years to come.”
The following players will be free agents this summer:
Marc Bola; Santi Cazorla; Alex Crean; Vlad Dragomir; Aaron Eyoma; Yassin Fortune; Ryan Huddart; Chiori Johnson; Hugo Keto; Per Mertesacker; Jack Wilshere and Tafari Moore.
