All European Leagues are set to return to action this weekend. Premier League biggest match will be between Tottenham and Liverpool at Wembley on Saturday. Other top six sides will not be so worried about their next fixtures apart from Manchester United who travel to face Watford. Arsenal will also face Newcastle away, Chelsea plays Cardiff at home while Man City welcomes Fulham at Etihad. Today, we want to look at the six most dominant central defenders in the English top flight.

6. Jan Vertonghen- Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspurs central defender Jan Vertonghen has established himself as one of the most consistent players in the Premier League. The Belgium international is perfect in the left side of the defensive half and he can also play in the left back position. Mauricio Pochetino only needs to think about who will partner him, Sanchez or Toby.

5. Eric Bailly- Man United

Manchester United central defender Eric Bailly is one of the best not only in his team but also in Premier League. The Ivory Coast international has been criticized for being too rash in his tackles and interceptions. However, he is only 24 years which means he has a lot of growing to do before he becomes a complete defender. On his day, you will not go through him to score a goal unless he has absolutely nothing to do.

4. Harry Maguire- Leicester City

Leicester City central defender Harry Maguire is one of the best in the Premier League right now. Manchester United wanted to sign him last summer but a deal collapsed before it even began because of high fee demands. A few days ago he signed a long-term deal to stay at King Power Stadium for five more years. This is just meant to silence his suitors but you can be sure they will return with better offers.
