Chelsea are in pole position to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas if Thibaut Courtois decides to join European champions this summer, according to former Premier League star Shaka Hislop.
Blues shot-stopper Courtois is strongly linked with La Liga giants but the deal would also open the door for Liverpool to sign Navas.
Liverpool are also busy on the market looking for a world-class goalkeeper with their number one keeper Loris Karius is yet to convince manager Jurgen Klopp and fans.
But according to ESPN FC pundit Hislop, the Reds can benefit by going after current Real No 1 Navas to solve their goalkeeper problems.
“Real Madrid, by all accounts, have shifted their attentions to Thibaut Courtois after being frustrated in the transfer market in trying to get David De Gea,” Hislop told ESPN.
“I think during the course of this World Cup Courtois’ stock has gone up, De Gea’s gone down. This makes a whole lot of sense for me.”
“This also ties in with (Liverpool). If Courtois goes to Real Madrid, Keylor Navas is in play and you know highly I think of Keylor Navas.”
“That is an answer I’d go for all day long in terms of filling that void for Liverpool.”
Courtois has spent three years in Madrid during his time at Atletico Madrid and his family still live in the capital city.
The Belgium international’s current contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of the 2018-19 season and is no closer to agreeing an extension deal.
