Italian Serie A is getting back to the top of European football after several years of decline. The likes of AC Milan and Inter Milan are now looking up after struggling to stay afloat since around 2012. Napoli and AS Roma are looking strong once again but Juventus is still very dominant. Gazzetta Dello Sport leaked a list of best-paid players in Serie A. Take a look at the top five.
5. Gianluigi Donnarumma- €6 Million per year
AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is the joint fifth highest paid player in Serie A according to Italian top newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport. The 19-year-old is far ahead of his peers. At 18, he was not only the first choice at San Siro but also challenging Buffon for the Azzurri number one shirt. This has already happened because the 40-year-old retired from the national team. The lucrative deal worth €6 million Donnarumma signed in 2017 will expire in 2021.
4. Douglas Costa- €6 Million per year

Bosnia and Herzegovina international Miralem Pjanić will take home €6.5 million per year until 2023. The 28-year-old creative midfielder signed what could be his last major deal a few months ago to stay at the club for a few six more years. He will need to play second fiddle to new arrival Cristiano Ronaldo especially in dead ball situations.
