Arsene Wenger left Arsenal in the summer after managing the club for 22 years. He has transformed the club on and off the pitch. The Club has produced great players during his time. They include; Patrick Viera, Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas, and Robin Van Persie among others. However, some players might be happy he is leaving because they left the club bitter. They have complained about the manner the manager and the Club treated them. Now let us take a look at five former players who openly disagreed with Arsene Wenger.
Emmanuel Frimpong bitterness with both Arsenal and Arsene Wenger seems to get worse every day. In the summer of 2014, he criticized Arsene Wenger for spending so much money buying Alexis Sanchez instead of buying a defensive midfielder.
The 26-year old Ghanaian midfielder blames the French man for his struggles in football since he left Emirates. His problems started when his Gunners career refused to materialize despite joining the club aged only nine years. He is currently a free agent after another poor spell with Cyprus side Ermis Aradippou.
4. Dennis Bergkamp
Former Arsenal star Dennis Bergkamp is a legend at the Club and a darling to many Gunners fans. The former Netherlands international scored and created many great goals during his time at the club. However, the revelation that he actually had a bad relationship with Arsene Wenger certainly shocked many Gooners.
“Sometimes I hate my manager,” Bergkamp once said.
“It is just so frustrating not to play when you are fit and in good shape.
“Quite simply, Wenger believes in rotating his top players and I don’t.
“And I have told him so many times now that I hate it. And I hate it when I am substituted when I’m playing well’ Bergkamp said.
Former Holland International was in the squad that won the Premier League unbeaten in 3003/4 season.
3. Nicklas Bendtner
‘Lord’ Bendtner as he is well known is also on the list. The Danish forward joined Arsenal at a tender age of 16 years. He played six years for the Gunners until 2014 scoring 45 goals in 171 matches. The club tried to send him out on loan to several clubs to try and get the best out of him. They include; Birmingham City, Sunderland, and Juventus. However, he was not happy with the way his departure was handled by the club.
“I played regularly for Juventus until I got injured. At Arsenal, I barely played. My last year was wasted there.
“We were champions, I wanted to stay. But Arsenal took me back. I wasted a year there. That annoys me the most.” Bendtner said.
The striker now plays for Norwegian club Rosenborg after failing to shine at Nottingham Forest and Wolfsburg among other clubs.
