Atletico Madrid have agreed to pay €65m for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, who is now representing France in the World Cup in Russia.

Lemar has been strongly linked with away move from the Stade Louis II last summer as Liverpool had a £78m offer rejected by Monaco.

Arsenal has also emerged as the 22-year-old suitors but the Spanish giants have now won the race for the France international.

“Atletico de Madrid and AS Monaco have achieved a preliminary agreement over the transfer of Thomas Lemar to our club.”

“Over the next days, both clubs will work to close the agreement for the definitive transfer.”

“The French International is currently in Russia with his National Team to play the 2018 FIFA World Cup that will take place the next Thursday, 14th of July. Lemar, 22 years old and 1.70 cm of height, performs as a left-winger.”

Lemar joined Monaco in 2015 from Caen and has since gone on to score 22 times in 127 appearances helping Monaco to win the Ligue 1 title in the 2016-17 season.
