Football families continue to dominate the beautiful game in a manner not seen in other sports. You probably know the fathers more than the sons for obvious reasons. The dads are legends in the families and the game. The shadows of their parents have followed them in every step of the way. They might still make it but one thing is for certain, they will never be better than their fathers in football. Let us take a look at five football families in our history.
6. The Redknapps
Harry Redknapp is one of the most successful managers in the Premier League history. He managed Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth, Queens Park Rangers among others.
He won FA Cup with Portsmouth and also guided Spurs to Champions League quarterfinals. His son Jamie Redknapp is a retired footballer who played as a midfielder for Bournemouth, Southampton, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur. He is now a pundit and a columnist at Sky Sports and Daily Mail respectively. Former Chelsea star Frank Lampard is a cousin to Jamie.
5. The Wrights
Ian Wright is a former England International who played for Premier League sides Arsenal, Crystal Palace, West Ham United, Burnley and Nottingham Forest. He won the Premier League among other trophies with gunners. His sons are Bradley Wright-Phillips who played for Manchester City, Southampton among others and Shaun Wright-Phillips who played for Manchester City, Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers. Both currently play for Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls.
4. The Mullers (Gerd Muller and son Thomas Muller)
Germany legend Gerd Muller is the father of the current Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Thomas Muller. In his career, Muller scored 653 goals in 707 appearances. The young Muller has also grown up to become a lethal attacker. So far in his career, he has netted 171 times in 425 appearances. This shows you the goals bloodline is going on well.
