Chelsea and Arsenal fans are not happy with their expensive striker signings for missing too many obvious chances. Alvaro Morata had a day to forget against Manchester United last weekend. Alexandre Lacazette has obviously not recovered from the double miss against Gunners bitter rivals Spurs last month. Today, we have gathered real facts and numbers relating to ‘Big Chances’ missed so far this season.
We take a look at six stars and the number of clear-cut chances they have missed;
6. Alexandre Lacazette- 12 Big Chances missed
Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has missed the sixth highest number of open chances in the Premier League so far. The French forward joined the Gunners from Lyon last summer in a mega deal but the goals have refused to accept him. This season, he has netted only 9 goals and assisted 3 more. In the same period, he has missed 12 big chances that could’ve earned Arsene Wenger side more points. The fans will not forget the two big chances against Tottenham Hotspurs in January.
5. Sergio Aguero- 12 Big Chances missed
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has netted 21 goals and assisted 5 others so far this season. The Argentine has also missed the fifth highest clear-cut chances in the Premier League. He should have scored 12 more this season but for one reason or the other, he missed. Pep Guardiola the ‘Perfectionist’ will certainly not take this very well.
4. Alvaro Morata- 15 Big Chances missed
Chelsea record summer signing Alvaro Morata is the fourth player with most obvious misses in Premier League. The Spaniard has missed 15 big chances so far this season. The former Real Madrid star has scored 10 goals and assisted 5 more. He has been criticized in the last couple of months for missing too many chances but as you can see, he is not the worst.
