EUROPE MASTERS: Top 7 Clubs with MOST Champions League Final appearances in History

Real Madrid defeated Juventus 4-1 on June 3rd at Cardiff to lift their 12th European title.  The Spanish giant has won the trophy in the last two consecutive years. The Old Lady last lifted the coveted trophy in 1996. Today, we want to take a look at seven Clubs with most UEFA Champions League appearances in the history of the tournament.

7. Benfica- 7 finals


Portuguese fallen giants Benfica have appeared in 7 finals. They won the title in 1961 and 1962 defeating Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively. They last made the final in 1990 but AC Milan was too strong for them.

6. Liverpool- 7 finals


The only English representative on the list is Liverpool. They have won the coveted trophy five times. They have played in 7 finals. The last time they lifted the trophy was in 2005 when they came from 3-0 down to win it in post-match penalties against AC Milan. Their last final appearance was in 2007 when they lost to AC Milan.

5. Barcelona- 8 finals


Barcelona has been the most dominant team in Europe in the last ten years. They have won it four times in a very short period. They won it in 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2015. The four additions to the one they won in 1992. This year they hope to win one more European crown but the journey is still long for all the teams. They have now played in 8 European Cup finals.

4. Juventus- 9 finals


Juventus played in their 9th UEFA Champions League final in 2017. The Italian giants lost 4-1 to defending Champions Real Madrid. They are clearly the most unlucky team when it comes to winning the coveted trophy. They have won it only 2 times.In 1997-98 final they lost 1-0 to this year opponents Real Madrid at Amsterdam Arena in Amsterdam Holland. They drew 2-2 at home against Tottenham Hotspurs making the second leg in London a mountain to climb.
