Premier League title is no doubt done and dusted after another costly defeat to the closest team and Manchester City victory. Pep Guardiola will now focus his attention to FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, and League Cup final against Arsenal later this month. Jose Mourinho and others will shift their attention to Europe and other domestic competitions. Today, we want to see who did well last weekend in Premier League.
5. Virgil van Dijk- Liverpool
Liverpool has a number of players who once played for Southampton. They include Sadio Mane, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and the latest one is Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman was returning to a club he actually played for less than a month ago. It was obviously hard to play against so many friends. He had a solid game with 2 tackles, 5 aerial duels, 6 clearances, 82 pass accuracy, and 2 interceptions, as a result, he got a clean sheet for the first time since he joined the Reds.
4. Gylfi Sigurðsson- Everton
Everton paid £40 million to Swansea City to sign Gylfi Sigurðsson last summer. The Iceland International struggled in the first half of the season and this led to the sacking of Ronald Koeman. On Saturday, he showed once again why he is worth that much. He netted the opener for the Toffees in the 46th minute. He was engaged all afternoon and Big Sam will be impressed by that performance.
3. Mohamed Salah- Liverpool
Liverpool did not play games with their late clash against Southampton on Sunday. They thrashed the Saints 2-0 to move to third and only two points behind second-placed side Manchester United. The goals were scored by the usual suspects Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian assisted the first goal and scored the second. He now has 22 in Premier League, one behind Kane and 29 in 35 matches in all competitions.
