Diego Forlan was signed for Manchester United under manager Sir Alex Ferguson for £6.9m on 22 January 2002.
The then 23-year-old was touted for greatness at Old Trafford but his career went differently from what It was expected.
During his four-year spell at Old Trafford, Forlan managed only 17 goals in almost 100 appearances across all competitions.
The Uruguayan left the Red Devils in 2004 after winning a Premier League, FA Cup, and FA Community Shield. But Forlan’s contribution to these honours was minimal.
After leaving the Old Trafford side, the striker had seven successful seasons in La Liga at Villarreal and Atletico Madrid.
