Real Madrid plots a world-record bid for Chelsea goalkeeper while Conte praises his potential successor. Morata Dances with his wife despite his probable season-ending back injury. “Borussia Dortmund do not have buy-option on Michy Batshuayi,” confirms CEO
Real Madrid are reportedly planning to move Chelsea goalkeeper for a £100m world-record. The Spanish club turned their eyes on Thibaut Courtois after being unable to move David De Gea from Manchester United. Blancos are expected to do everything possible, strengthen their squad, to stop Barcelona from a back-to-back La Liga glory next year as this one seems to have gone already.
The goalkeeping position look set to be one area in which Los Blancos will attempt to strengthen and they only seem to remain with one option. According to the Independent, Courtois has now emerged as Real Madrid’s number one target after breaking down with De Gea. Last week, the Belgian said that his heart is in Madrid where live his two Children. And makes it clear if La Liga outfit are prepared to pay £100million – which would smash all the previous transfer records for a goalkeeper.
The current world record fee for a goalkeeper stands at £34.7m, which Manchester City gave Benfica to sign Ederson last summer. That deal eclipsed the £32.6m that Juventus paid to lure Gianluigi Buffon from Parma in 2001. Courtois’ contract at Chelsea will expire next summer but he can make history anytime soon or later.
Over the last week, there has been a subject of constant speculations at Stamford Bridge due to poor performance. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has praised ‘fantastic’ Luis Enrique despite the Spaniard potentially in line to take over at Stamford Bridge.
Although more than five contenders reportedly able to replace the Italian, he has given the 47-year-old a glowing endorsement. “Yes, I have spoken with him. I know him,” said Conte. “We played against each other, and he’s a really good person. When I was the coach of Juventus, he was Roma’s coach. I have great admiration for Luis Enrique and, sometimes, he is a fantastic coach. ”
“He reached his targets with Barcelona, and also with Roma. You could see a well-organized team. I can speak about him very well, as a person and a coach. “But at the start, you have started to speak about Carlo Ancelotti. He is my friend. We do this job, and our job is not ‘difficult’, but you must be open and understand the situation can change. A club can take different decisions. It’s the same for me. But, I repeat, I’m not jealous or envious of other managers. Everyone knows his job, his work. I have, usually, a great respect.”
