Premier League is getting hotter this season. Manchester City is still enjoying a massive gap at the top after 25 matches. The rest of the top six are still struggling to get a rhythm in their approach. Liverpool is entertaining but they are still not convincing at the back. Today, we want to take a look at a record many fans are not aware of. We look at all time fastest goals in the history of the English League especially after that 11-second goal scored by Eriksen against Manchester United.
7. Asmir Begovic- 13 seconds
Former Stoke City goalkeeper and current Bournemouth takes position six in the list. This is interesting because you don’t expect a man far away to score a goal so early in open play. On this day in 2013, the shot-stopper cleared the ball and luckily for him, it bounced just in front of his opposite number Artur Boruc of Southampton. The ball rolled over and just like that, a 91.9 meters strike ended at the back of the net.
6. Chris Sutton- 13 seconds
In 1995, Allan Shearer was playing for Blackburn Rovers and he partnered the deadly Chris Sutton. They lifted the Premier League title that year. On this day, they visited Everton. The referee blew the whistle but before he could adjust his watch the score was 1-0. Sutton scored the opener after only 13 seconds to silence the noisy Goodison Park. The match ended 2-1 in favor of the visitors.
5. Dwight Yorke- 13 seconds
In 1995, Dwight Yorke was unstoppable; he just wanted to score goals. The match had just started but he needed only 13 seconds to score his first goal against Coventry City. Aston Villa was flying that year and the striker who eventually achieved a lot of success with Manchester United was one of the reasons why. He met Ian Taylor cross perfectly and the final score was 3-0.
