Zlatan Ibrahimovic to leave Manchester United before the end of the season; while Manchester United forward joins Sheffield United on loan. Carrick & Valencia take part in warm weather training; while Henrikh Mkhitaryan open to Borussia Dortmund return.
5. Manchester United forward joins Sheffield United on loan
Manchester United have announced that James Wilson has joined Sheffield United on loan for the rest of the season.
The 22-year-old has struggled to break into the first team at Old Trafford, despite making his senior debut in 2014.
Since then, Wilson has been sent out on loan twice. But his spell at Derby County in 2016 was cut short due to a knee injury.
This season, the forward has been in positive form for United’s Under-23s side and now he will look to impress at Championship level for Sheffield United.
Blades manager Chris Wilder told his club’s official website: “James has a fantastic pedigree having come through the ranks at Manchester United and importantly has some good Championship experience.”
4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic to leave Manchester United before end of season
Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic could reportedly leave the club before the end of the current campaign. The Swedish star reportedly evaluates options for his next career move.
The 36-year-old penned a new one-season deal with Jose Mourinho’s side in August as he recovered from a serious knee injury, making his competitive return in mid-November.
United are not believed to require the services of the Swede for the 2018-19 campaign but according to Yahoo! Sport, he could leave Old Trafford as soon as next month.
Ibrahimovic is said to be of interest to clubs in the MLS and the Chinese Super League, whose seasons begin in March. And he is expected to be presented with multiple offers for a move in the next month or two.
United, meanwhile, reportedly want to keep hold of the player until his contract expires in June. But they could let him leave sooner in exchange for a fee.
Ibrahimovic is currently back on the sidelines with a problem relating to his previous injury.
3. Henrikh Mkhitaryan open to Borussia Dortmund return
Manchester United winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan is reportedly open to considering a return to Borussia Dortmund in this window.
The Armenian international has fallen short this season, with manager Jose Mourinho unconvinced that he deserves a regular spot in the team.
In fact, the 28-year-old has started only 11 Premier League games and has played a full 90 minutes just twice.
According to The Independent, there is a willingness from both the player and Dortmund to thrash out a deal. But the German club are not prepared to match Mkhitaryan’s £120,000-a-week wage packet.
The report suggests that a transfer in the summer would be much more likely. But United are open to selling in this window if an appropriate offer is tabled.
Mkhitaryan spent three years at Dortmund before joining the Red Devils in 2016.
