Top 4 La Liga News: Barcelona completes a SHOCK 2nd signing and Madrid is CONFUSED

2. ‘Mourinho destroyed Madrid’- Xavi

Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has accused Jose Mourinho of destroying Real Madrid playing style. The former Catalan skipper believes the Los Blancos don’t want to play beautiful football and it started when the Portuguese took over the club.

‘Madrid do not play so beautifully. At the Bernabeu, if a defender hoofs the ball into the stand it is fine. That is the culture. The fans applaud,’ said Xavi.

“At the Camp Nou you knock the ball into the stand and the grumbles are so loud it is negative. Since [Johan] Cruyff’s time.”

“Mourinho’s Madrid hit the ball directly over the top. Mourinho told his players never to stop the ball, to play quickly and then [Angel] Di Maria, Cristiano [Ronaldo] or [Karim] Benzema would break. Now they do it with [Gareth] Bale. They don’t want to play football.

The ‘Special One’ left Santiago Bernabeu in 2013 and was succeeded by Carlo Ancelotti. Rafa Benitez had a short stint at the helm before Zidane took charge in January 2016.

1. Barcelona completes a SHOCK 2nd signing and Madrid is CONFUSED

Barcelona has completed a shock signing of Yerry Fernando Mina González for €11.8 million from Brazilian giants Palmeiras. The 23-year-old defender has been brought in to fill the gap left behind by Javier Mascherano who is set to make a switch to Chinese Super League.

The Columbian International is 1.95 meters tall and he is good on the ball too. He will now need to fight it out with Umtiti and Pique for a place in the first team.

“Everything is moving so fast, but I feel very happy with everything that is happening,” Mina said.

“I am delighted and very excited because, as they say, Barca is more than a club. Every day I get up and I think ‘I am doing things right because Barca are interested in me.’”

The signing comes less than a week after completing the signing of Philippe Coutinho for €142 million from Liverpool. Real Madrid is yet to make any signing despite the fact that they are 16 points behind the League leaders from Catalonia.
