Arsene Wenger believes team selections put Arsenal first; Arsenal are reportedly still hopeful Mesut Ozil will sign a new deal; Alexis Sanchez Has One Last Test Of Good Faith Before He Leaves.
4. Arsene Wenger Says Team Selections Put Arsenal First
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists his team selection will always reflect what is best for the team. Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Mohamed Elneny have mostly featured in Europe but have been left on the sidelines for the league campaign.
“You cannot keep players happy, but they deal well with it and it’s a problem we all have to deal with. […] In the squad, this season more than ever, I cannot see a weakness in anyone’s motivation and quality in training.”
3. Alexis Sanchez Has One Last Test Of Good Faith Before He Leaves
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insisted that Alexis Sanchez would always give 100% for the club, but the Chilean still has one more test of good faith. That last test is to not go to Manchester City. Alexis will always pursue what is best for his career.
However, gunners don’t want to have to think of Alexis the way they think of Robin van Persie; a man who could have been an Arsenal legend but shirked that and went to a direct rival. That time is supposed to be over.
2. Arsene Wenger Sends Message To Santi Cazorla
The Spaniard, who has not featured for the Gunners since October 2016, underwent a ninth operation on his achilles last week. The future looks dark for the midfielder, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
“I sent him a message because he had a new surgery and wished him well,” Wenger told the Evening Standard. “He answered ‘look I have to start again, from zero basically’ and it is very sad, honestly.
“When he will be able to run again I don’t know. I was hopeful of January but after, he had this setback that everybody knows about.”
