DEAD SEASON: Top 5 Strikers in Europe having a TERRIBLE season so far

Top clubs in Europe sign the best strikers in the world to score goals and help them win trophies. The story changes to failure if the forward players fail to do their job. Today we want to look at five strikers firing blanks so far this season. The list below is drawn from La Liga, Premier League, Serie A, Ligue 1, and Bundesliga.

5. Antoine Griezmann – 7 goals in 17 matches

Atletico Madrid performance in UEFA Champions League this year was their worst in several years. They failed to come out of their group. They have been relegated to Europa League. The biggest reason why Diego Simeone side is struggling is because their talisman Antoine Griezmann is firing blanks.

The 26-year-old French attacker has found the net only 7 times in 17 matches in all competitions so far this season. Last season he netted 26 in 53 appearances but that tally is highly unlikely this season. The La Liga side will hope Diego Costa arrival in January will make life easier for them.

4. Luis Suarez- 6 goals in 19 matches

Barcelona paid £64.98 million to sign Luis Suarez from Liverpool in 2014. The striker netted 59 goals in 53 appearances in 2015/16 season to lift the European Golden boot. The Uruguay is now looking like a different player. He is struggling to score goals forcing Camp Nou to start looking for his replacement.

This season so far, he has only scored 6 goals in 19 matches in all competitions. The poor show has left the entire burden of scoring goals to Lionel Messi. When teams manage to stop him, the Catalan giant can’t scare the opponent. The departure of Neymar has seriously exposed him.

3. Alexis Sanchez- 5 goals in 13 matches

Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez is having a bad season. The Chilean has refused to extend his current contract at Emirates. This means he will be free to leave for free next summer. Manchester City wants to sign him for a small fee in January but Arsene Wenger has said he is not for sale. He has netted only 5 goals in 13 matches so far. Last season he scored 30 times in 51 appearances.
