FIVE DIAMONDS: Top 5 TREBLE Winners in top 5 Leagues in Europe since 1966-67

Barcelona remains the last club in Europe five best Leagues to lift a treble. Luis Enrique guided the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar in 2014/15 season to a historic triple. Today, we want to look at five other teams from Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga that have lifted a treble since 1966/67 season.

5. Barcelona – 2014/15 Triple

Barcelona is the last club in top five European Leagues to win a treble. The Catalan giants defeated Serie A side Juventus in UEFA Champions League final to lift their fifth continental trophy. Camp Nou also celebrated La Liga and Copa del Rey.

The season started badly for Luis Enrique side. The Club wanted to sack the Spaniard in January 2015 after a poor run of results. However, the team improved and they did not look back. They went on to lift all three trophies on offer that season. Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez scored to end the hopes of thousands of fans from Italy.

4. Bayern Munich- 2012/13 Triple

Bayern Munich came from behind at Wembley Stadium in 2013 to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the final. It was the first time in UEFA Champions League history that two Bundesliga teams were facing each other in the final.

Jupp Heynckes guided the team to a historic treble that season. They had already lifted the League and DFB-Pokal. It was a great year for the Bavarians. The Club brought in Pep Guardiola but it was just the wrong time for him. The only success the fans could take is another treble and he tried and failed in three years. He turned a new contract to take over at Manchester City.

3. Inter Milan- 2009/10 Triple

Jose Mourinho is still a famous name in Italy and Milan in particular because of the 2009/10 success at Inter Milan. The Portuguese helped the Serie A side lift UEFA Champions League, League title and Coppa Italia. It is the best the club has seen for decades. The last continental trophy they had lifted was in 1964/65 season, that a gap of 45 years. They still want him back but Manchester United fans will hear none of that noise.
