3. BREAKING-Man United agree deal to sell Fellaini in January
Manchester United have agreed to sell midfielder Marouane Fellaini for £8 million to Turkish side Besiktas in January. The Belgian has just returned from a lengthy injury lay off. The 29-year-old is one of the several players the Portuguese needs to sell to be able to recruit others.
The midfielder arrived in 2014 from Everton when David Moyes took over from Sir Alex Ferguson. He is currently serving his final year at Old Trafford and the club has decided against extending his contract. Others facing the ax include Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Juan Mata. All will be out of contract next summer.
2. Mourinho aims a dig at Conte for complaining about injuries
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has said he does not like talking about injured players. The Portuguese was speaking in response to Chelsea boss Antonio Conte complains about injuries. The Italian blamed injuries for the 3-0 defeat by AS Roma in the Champions League.
“So it’s my fault. It’s my decision. It’s my way of dealing with problems. It’s my way of trying to motivate and respect and give confidence to the players that are going to replace those people. But maybe I have to reconsider my profile. I know that I moan about a lot of things but I don’t with injuries and probably I should.
“I think any other manager would be speaking about Pogba every day. ‘Oh, I don’t have Pogba. Oh, when will I have Pogba? Oh, 10 matches without Pogba. Oh, all the Champions League group phase without Pogba. Oh, all the big matches, against Liverpool, against Chelsea, against Spurs without Pogba. Oh.’ I don’t speak about Pogba one single time. It’s only when you ask me about his situation.
“And it’s not just Pogba. It’s Pogba, it’s Fellaini, it’s Carrick, it’s Ibra [Zlatan Ibrahimovic], it’s Marcos Rojo. It’s a big group of players. So I think we are doing very, very well.”
1. Lampard REVEAL the Reason why City & Chelsea are better than Man United
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard believes the quality of players might be the only reason why Manchester United may not win the Premier League this season. The Red Devils are currently 8 points behind leaders Manchester City. They have 23 points, same as Tottenham and Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are following with 22 and 19 points respectively.
“Mourinho is a manager that likes to win and he has a way of winning. It’s different to Pep Guardiola, different to Antonio Conte and that’s his way,” Lampard told Omnisport.
“If Manchester United don’t win the Premier League, for me it’s the quality of the players.
“Manchester City has a very strong squad this year, Chelsea still has a very strong squad and I think particularly the first XI, if everybody’s fit, Chelsea are very strong.
“When I look at Manchester United, they’re there around that area, but maybe the other teams can be stronger.
“I certainly don’t think it’ll be the manager, and I actually do think that Manchester United will be competitive towards the end of the season, so we’ll see.”
Jose Mourinho is currently missing key players including Paul Pogba, Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
