Atletico Madrid eye Manchester United midfielder; while Manchester City set to beat Chelsea to French defender signature. Manchester City to hand new deal to Gabriel Jesus; while Real Madrid keen to sign striker for a cut-price fee in January.
5. Manchester City to hand new deal to Gabriel Jesus
Manchester City have reportedly decided to offer a new contract to striker Gabriel Jesus.
In January, Jesus penned a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Premier League giants. But the Brazilian’s contribution since his arrival appears to have already convinced the club’s hierarchy.
According to the Daily Mail, City want to hand Jesus a pay rise of £30,000, taking his overall wages to £100,000 per week.
The 20-year-old has netted 14 goals in 20 Premier League appearances since he joined the Citizens in August 2016.
It has been suggested that the versatile attacker has done more than enough to impress head coach Pep Guardiola.
Cristiano Simoes – Jesus’s agent – has allegedly flown to Manchester to open negotiations with the club.
4. Real Madrid keen to sign striker for cut-price fee
Real Madrid have reportedly decided to sign a new striker for a cut-price fee during the January transfer window.
Zinedine Zidane’s team are currently eight points off the pace in La Liga; while Los Blancos are also likely to only qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League as runners-up.
Real have failed to score more than three goals in a match all season. According to Sport, president Florentino Perez has given the green light for business to take place during January transfer window.
However, it has been suggested that Real are only looking for attackers who can act as a backup to Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, who have both struggled this season.
3. Manchester City to beat Chelsea to Mouctar Diakhaby signature
Manchester City will reportedly look to use Lyon’s interest in Eliaquim Mangala to beat Chelsea to the signature of the French club’s highly-rated defender Mouctar Diakhaby during the January transfer window.
Chelsea are said to be keen on signing 20-year-old Diakhaby, who was promoted to Lyon’s first team last season.
However, according to The Sun, Man City are aware that Lyon want to sign Mangala and will look to agree a part-exchange deal at the start of 2018.
Mangala came close to leaving the Etihad Stadium during the summer. But a failed move for West Bromwich Albion centre-back Jonny Evans saw the out-of-favour Frenchman stay in Manchester.
2. Atletico Madrid eye Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera
Atletico Madrid are plotting to take Ander Herrera back to his homeland.
The Manchester United midfielder’s contract expires at Old Trafford next summer, and he has so far failed to agree on terms over a new deal.
Herrera, 28, was an indispensable part of Jose Mourinho’s side last season. But the Spaniard has seen his role reduced following the arrival of Nemanja Matic.
Atletico are long-time admirers of the Basque and are eyeing a replacement for captain Gabi, now 34, reports AS.
Herrera’s contract situation makes him an attractive proposition, with Atletico eligible to negotiate with the player in January.
However, United continue to have the situation in hand, with the Red Devils holding the option of a one-year extension.
1. Real Madrid nearing Kepa Arrizabalaga deal
Real Madrid will reportedly sign Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga during the January transfer window.
Kepa, 23, will see his current deal with Bilbao expire at the end of the season. But the Basque club’s president Josu Urrutia recently claimed that he was confident of tying the stopper to a new contract.
According to Marca, Madrid will offer £17.7m to complete the deal in January; while Bilbao wary that they could lose the Spaniard for nothing at the end of the current season.
Current Madrid number one Keylor Navas has been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool in recent days.
