Premier League game 11 is done and dusted. Manchester City has extended their lead at the top to 8 points. Manchester United have been clawed back again by defending Champions Chelsea. Arsenal miracle failed to materialize at Etihad and Liverpool is now back to winning ways after a shock demolition by Tottenham a few weeks ago. Today, we take a look at five outstanding players last weekend.
5. Rajiv Van La Parra- Huddersfield
Huddersfield mission to survive is looking good so far. They are currently in the 10th place with 15 points. The newly-promoted side managed to beat West Brom 1-0 this weekend. The goal was scored by Rajiv Van La Parra with his only shot on target. The fans and everybody connected to the club will be very happy with the progress so far.
4. Oumar Niasse- Everton
Everton came from behind to beat Watford 3-2 at Goodison Park to lift them off the bottom three. The Toffees needed that win to get back to winning ways after a poor start to the season. Ronald Koeman has sacked two weeks ago after a poor run of results.
The fans will remember Leighton Baines 90th minute penalty but the man who started the comeback is Oumar Niasse. He scored the crucial goal to help his side get the fans behind them and it finally paid off. They are now in position 15 with 11 points.
3. Alvaro Morata- Chelsea
Chelsea did what they have done over the years every time they hear Manchester United is in town. The Blues had lost only one match out of 15 and on Sunday they made it 16. The Red Devils record at Stamford Bridge is terrible since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson. However, the defeat leaves them 8 points behind Manchester City in the title race.
The only goal of the match was scored by new arrival Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard was close to joining Jose Mourinho side last summer and the same can be said about his opposite striker Romelu Lukaku. The former Real Madrid attacker had a great performance on Sunday. He also had 10 touches in opposition half as compared to the Belgian who had none.
2. Kevin De Bruyne- Manchester City
Manchester City thrashed Arsenal 3-1 at home to take their lead at the top to eight points. Manchester United 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge makes City win even sweeter. Pep Guardiola has certainly transformed the team and the results are there for all to see.
The match at Etihad had its own controversies. However, Kevin De Bruyne performance once again is not in question. He netted to open the floodgates early in first half. He had two shots on target and also created 2 other chances. It was the best return by any player on the pitch.
1. Mohamed Salah- Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp has done several great things since he took over the job at Liverpool. The best thing he has done so far was the decision to sign Mohamed Salah. The ‘Egyptian Messi’ has been a massive success since he arrived from AS Roma.
On Saturday, he netted 2 goals to silence the Hammers at their own turf. He also created three chances to make sure the Reds emerged 4-1 winners. The goals take his tally to six goals in the League and 12 in all competitions. The return of Sadio Mane only means more goals for the Reds.
