5. Juan Mata turns down prospective Chinese Super League move
Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has rejected a prospective big-money move to the Chinese Super League, according to a report.
The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season. But the Red Devils have the option of a 12-month extension.
According to The Mirror, Mata’s representatives have been approached by intermediaries and sounded out about a potential switch from United to a club in China.
However, the report suggests that the Spaniard has turned down the opportunity to increase his current £165,000-a-week salary and instead opted to stay at Old Trafford.
Mata has made a total of 155 appearances for United since his move from Chelsea in 2014.
4. David Silva on verge of signing new Manchester City deal
David Silva is reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with Manchester City to keep him in place for the next three years.
The Spain international is said to have been in talks with the Citizens on-and-off since the start of last season over extending his current deal by a further 12 months.
Silva was due to see his existing contract expire at the end of next season. The Daily Mail suggests that the playmaker is on the verge of finally putting pen to paper on fresh terms.
It is claimed that there has now been a breakthrough as City are willing to increase the 31-year-old’s wages.
Silva joined the Premier League side from Valencia in 2010, going on to win every domestic trophy available.
3. Arsene Wenger confirms Ozil and Sanchez could leave in January
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has acknowledged that the club may consider selling both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez during the January transfer window.
The star duo have less than a year remaining on their deals at the Emirates Stadium. And Wenger has previously insisted that the pair would see out the rest of their contracts.
However, the manager has revealed that January represents the final time in which the Gunners could recoup a fee for both players.
The Frenchman told reporters: “In our situation, we have envisaged every solution. It is possible.”
2. Manchester United to offer new contract to Jose Mourinho
Manchester United have reportedly decided to offer a new five-year contract to manager Jose Mourinho.
The 54-year-old is only halfway through a three-year contract. But the Old Trafford hierarchy are seemingly prepared to place their long-term faith in the Portuguese.
According to The Sun, United are prepared to hand Mourinho a deal until 2022. The deal is said to be worth £65m over the course of his contract.
The improved terms are said to be a reward for United sitting joint-top of the Premier League table with rivals Manchester City.
The English giants only finished in sixth place last season. But Mourinho was still able to deliver both the EFL Cup and Europa League.
Since his arrival, Mourinho has taken charge of 75 games in all competitions, winning 46 and losing just 10.
1. Manchester United want Barcelona’s Rakitic for Martial swap
Manchester United are preparing to offer Anthony Martial to Barcelona in exchange for midfielder Ivan Rakitic, according to Diario Gol.
United boss Jose Mourinho has been tracking Barca player Sergi Roberto. But current reports suggest that 30-year-old Rakitic has caught the Portuguese’s attention and could be available next summer.
Mourinho is said to be a fan of the Croatia star and believes his experience could be a good addition to his side.
With Barcelona still showing an interest in Martial, the Red Devils could tempt the Catalans into a swap.
