5. Arsenal monitoring PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano
Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano and could make a move in January.
The 22-year-old only joined the Eredivisie side in June and is the league’s joint top-scorer, with six goals in six games to date.
According to the Daily Mail, the Dutch side are prepared to let the Mexican leave when the transfer window reopens but will demand a fee of £20m for the player – almost triple the reported £7.2m that they paid to sign him from Pachuca in June.
The newspaper claims that the Gunners’ head scout Steve Rowley has already seen Lozano play for PSV and has earmarked him as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who could depart the Emirates in January.
Manchester City were reportedly in discussions over a move for Lozano earlier this summer before PSV sealed the deal, while the player himself has previously expressed his desire to join Manchester United.
4. Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere considers January exit
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is reportedly eyeing up a move away from the club in January in a bid to force his way into England’s World Cup squad.
The England has not played a Premier League game so far this season after returning from his loan spell at Bournemouth.
The 25-year-old has not featured for England since the Euro 2016 defeat to Iceland.
Wilshere is concerned that he will not get enough playing time in north London. Now he wants to prove to Gareth Southgate he should be on the plane to Russia, according to the Times.
3. Sanchez joining PSG is ‘a possibility’ – Dani Alves
Dani Alves has entertained the idea of playing alongside Alexis Sanchez at Paris Saint-Germain.
Sanchez has entered the final 12 months of his current contract at Arsenal, with no extension on the horizon.
The Chile forward has been linked with a long list of clubs, from Manchester City to Bayern Munich.
But Brazil international Alves believes he could be a good fit at Parc des Princes.
“It’s a possibility. He’s courted by many teams,” the Brazilian said.
“It would be nice if he joined us. I will always appreciate him and I will always wish him the best wherever he goes.”
2. Mesut Ozil advised to turn down Manchester United
Former Germany striker Karl-Heinz Riedel has told Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil that he should turn down any approaches from Manchester United.
The 28-year-old will be free to leave the Emirates for nothing at the end of the season.
United manager Jose Mourinho has been linked with a swoop for Ozil, who played under the Portuguese coach at Real Madrid for three years.
“Ozil going back to Germany? Who knows,” Riedle told Omnisport. “There’s a rumor that he goes to Manchester United. He shouldn’t do it.”
“Ozil is a quality player. If you see his skills, it’s just amazing what he can do on the pitch. We would be very happy if he comes back to a club in Germany, for sure, but I’m not his agent so I don’t know where he ends up.”
The midfielder has been an Arsenal player since his £42.5m switch from Madrid in 2013.
1. Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi suffers injury blow
Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has been ruled out of Saturday’s game at Watford after injuring his hamstring in Germany’s victory over Azerbaijan.
The center-back, who was assessed by Arsenal’s medical staff on Monday, was forced off after 36 minutes in Kaiserslautern.
The 25-year-old’s hamstring injury means Arsene Wenger could be struggling for options at centre-back this weekend.
Laurent Koscielny (Achilles) and Calum Chambers (groin) are also doubts. This means Wenger will have to choose a back three from Nacho Monreal, Per Mertesacker, Rob Holding and Sead Kolasinac.
