Six Young players to watch in La Liga 2017/18

With a new La Liga season almost upon us, it seems the right time to take a closer look at some of the exciting prospects that could be set to make a name for themselves in Spain over the coming months.

Here are six of them to keep an eye on next season.

6. Pablo Fornals – Villarreal

The young attacking midfielder is a highlight reel within himself, producing dazzling pieces of skill and humiliating unsuspecting opponents last season, as well as adding an end product to his game that was lacking earlier in his youth career.

5. Sergi Samper – Barcelona

The 22-year-old had been touted as Barcelona’s next La Masia star, even labelled as Sergio Busquets’ long-term replacement by some. A move to Granada, who won just four games and finished bottom of La Liga season, was not ideal.

But now he is back with Barcelona, and after an impressive pre-season could be in contention for a midfield place under new coach Ernesto Valverde.

4. Carlos Soler – Valencia

The 20-year-old became a regular in what was a disappointing 2016-17 season for the club, scoring three goals in his 25 appearances. His immaculate ball control, pinpoint passing and elegant dribbling skills were evident throughout the season, and it didn’t go unnoticed.

3. Rodri – Villarreal

A commendable midfield display against Barcelona in May caught the eye. A defensive minded midfielder; the 21-year-old is a physical presence and comfortable in possession.
