Premier League is off season now. The following season will kick off on 12th August 2017. Last season Chelsea was crowned champions. Tottenham Hotspurs finished second, Manchester City third and Liverpool fourth. Harry Kane scooped the Golden Boot and Kante lifted the PFA award. Today, we take a look at players who scored most goals in consecutive matches in the history of the League.
7. Emmanuel Adebayor-7 games (Arsenal)
Emmanuel Adebayor was once a dependable player especially when he was at Arsenal. He scored 7 goals in 7 consecutive matches to join Henry and Ian Wright in the Gunners history books. The Togolese International decided to ditch the London side for Manchester City monies but his career suffered. He has since played for Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspurs and Crystal Palace among others.
6. Mark Stein-7 games (Chelsea)
Chelsea may not feature in many record breaking moments in the Premier League. However, they have a hero in Mark Stein who scored 7 goals in 7 consecutive games too. The Blues has enjoyed a successful spell since the arrival of billionaire Roman Abramovich. The likes of Drogba and Lampard could not set a better record.
5. Alan Shearer-7 games (Newcastle United)
Premier League all-time record goal scorer Alan Shearer netted 7 goals in 7 matches in a row. The former Newcastle and Blackburn Rovers scored 260 goals in the League alone. Wayne Rooney is the only player who could have broken this record but he has fallen short after slowing down too early in his career.
4. Thierry Henry-7 games (Arsenal)
Thierry Henry is a hero to many Arsenal fans today. Many of them saw him play in the highest level at a time when he was a joy to watch. He holds the Club record when it comes to goals in consecutive games. The Frenchman who is now a pundit netted 7 times in 7 matches in a row.
3. Daniel Sturridge-8 games (Liverpool)
Liverpool forward may be struggling with injuries left right and center today. However, he has certainly enjoyed some great moments in the Red shirt. He is the 3rd man in the order with 8 goals in 8 consecutive games. The English man had a great spell at Anfield especially when Luis Suarez played alongside him.
2. Ruud Van Nisterooy-10 games (Manchester United)
Former Manchester United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy scored 10 goals in 10 consecutive matches. The Dutchman held that record until 2016 when Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy broke it. He congratulated him in Instagram.
1.Jamie Vardy -11 games (Leicester City)
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy became the first man to score 11 goals in 11 consecutive League matches. The England forward broke the record in 2016 against Manchester United. The man who held the record Ruud Van Nistelrooy played for the Red Devils. It must have been a great feeling for the attacker. He netted 24 goals in 38 League matches to help the Foxes lift the title.
