Chelsea owner billionaire Roman Abramovich is reportedly closely monitoring Cristiano Ronaldo situation at Real Madrid. The Portuguese media has reported that the winger wants to leave the La Liga giants. CR7 is understood to be unhappy with tax evasion allegations from a Spanish prosecutor.
The Star played for six years for Manchester United and many pundits believe he might be heading back there. French side PSG has also been linked with him. However, the player will be up for grabs unless he decides his next destination.
The Blues rich Russian owner is reportedly willing to swap Eden Hazard plus cash for the winger. The deal could be tricky but anything is possible in the transfer market.
The 32-year-old signed a new deal worth £365,000-a-week in November 2016. According to credible reports, he has a release clause amounting to £870million.
Cantona furious with Conte treatment of Costa
Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has criticized Chelsea boss Antonio Conte for his conduct towards striker Diego Costa. The Italian Coach sent the forward a text informing him that he is no longer needed. The Club is not happy with the Coach style because it could cost the club millions.
‘’Angry texting…it’s not a good idea. And breaking up with a text…it’s even worse,’’- Cantona said.
“Mix the two together and you have Antonio Conte’s now infamous ‘Good luck for next year but you are not part of my plan’.
“Every single letter of that sentence addressed to Diego Costa could cost Chelsea about a million euro! Don’t run a team with your thumbs!”
The Spaniard scored 20 goals last season to help the Blues win the Premier League. He has netted 59 times in 120 matches since he arrived from Atletico Madrid two years ago. He has been linked with a return to Spain.
‘Cahill is one of the the Worst defenders in Europe today’- Mike Pejic
England lost 3-2 to 10-man France in an international friendly. Chelsea defender Gary Cahill was criticized for a poor performance against the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe. The center back could not withstand the speed of the young attackers.
Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland was the man between the posts in the second half. He had an impressive show but he eventually conceded the winning goal. Mike Pejic, a former Stoke defender believes Cahill was the weak point.
“I felt sorry for Butland having to play behind a player like Gary Cahill, one of the worst defenders I’ve seen in one-v-one situations.
“He gets so easily exposed and it was him, as much as David Luiz, who needed the protection of a three-man defense in that Chelsea rearguard last season.
But Cahill helped Chelsea lift the Premier League Title?
“Chelsea boss Antonio Conte deserves a medal – possibly Cahill’s title-winning medal – for spotting so quickly that Luiz and Cahill needed such protection.
“I thought Butland was steady overall against France, spreading himself well when he needed to, and I liked the distance he kept between himself and his defense when the ball was in England’s defensive third.
“With his build and his height, he will always have a great physical presence, but there is room for improvement.
“I’d like to see and hear him verbally communicating with his defense more to get them organized and keep them sharp.”
Pejic is a Premier League legend having made 344 appearances for Stoke.
