Chelsea midfielder reveals Paris Saint-Germain offer; while Diego Costa unlikely to return to Brazil. Eden Hazard speaks out about his future amid Real Madrid interest.
5. I am very happy at Chelsea – Eden Hazard
Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has said that he is very happy at the club amid speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid this summer.
The 26-year-old was instrumental in helping Chelsea to the Premier League title last season, scoring 16 goals; as Antonio Conte’s side finished seven points clear at the top of the table.
“I’ve been here for five years now and I’m so happy. I’m at one of the best clubs in the world; so I’m very happy to play for such a big club like this. After five years I know everything about the club. Even if I’m still only 26, I have a lot of experience now.”
“I started playing at 16 in France so I’ve been professional for 10 years. In terms of games and experience, I’m one of the oldest ones. I like this club because it’s like a family. I have a lot of friends and we all talk to each other.”
4. Mauricio Pochettino excited about Chelsea clash
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that he is excited about his side’s opening home game of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
Spurs will host champions Chelsea in their first league match at Wembley; where they will play all of their home games during the upcoming campaign due to the ongoing construction of their new stadium.
The match will see last season’s top two go head to head, and Pochettino is positive about his side’s fixture schedule.
“I’m positive about the fixtures. Our first match at Wembley will be Chelsea. Our fans will be excited and we are excited,” he told Spurs TV.
Tottenham’s 2017-18 season will begin away to newly-promoted Newcastle United.
3. Diego Costa unlikely to return to Brazil – Brother
The brother of Chelsea striker Diego Costa has said that it is unlikely he will move back to Brazil this summer.
Costa revealed earlier this month that he has been told that he has no future at Stamford Bridge by manager Antonio Conte.
The 28-year-old is keen on a return to Atletico Madrid; but the Spanish outfit are currently serving a transfer ban which means that they are unable to sign any new players until January.
The situation has forced Costa to look at alternatives in Europe and beyond; but his elder brother suggested that a switch back to his home nation is not on the agenda.
“He has great affection for Atletico but right now, there is nothing (official) so we have to wait and see what happens,” Costa’s brother told Yahoo Brazil.
“A move to Brazil? To be honest, right now that is very difficult – many friends have called me up in the last few hours to ask me about; but Diego has not said anything about this. He is a Palmeirense [fan] even though me and my father support Sao Paulo.”
2. N’Golo Kante reveals Paris Saint-Germain offer
Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has revealed that he turned down an approach from Paris Saint-Germain; before joining the Blues from Leicester City last summer.
Kante was instrumental in helping the Foxes to become the most unlikely Premier League champions in history during the 2015-16 campaign; before moving to Stamford Bridge and lifting a second consecutive league title last season.
The 26-year-old’s performances in the 2016-17 season saw him named the PFA Player and FWA Footballer of the Year.
“It is true that the PSG were there like the other clubs after my beautiful season in Leicester,” he told Le Parisien.
“But I chose Chelsea after talking with the coach and the sporting director. And I do not regret it. In addition, I like the league and the style of play in England.”
Kante is only the second player to ever win the Premier League title in back-to-back years with different teams, after Mark Schwarzer.
1. Kalidou Koulibaly agent hints at Chelsea move
The agent of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has suggested that his client would be interested in the prospect of joining Chelsea this summer.
The Premier League champions are understood to have been tracking the progress of Koulibaly since Antonio Conte’s arrival at Stamford Bridge last year; and are again considering a move for the 25-year-old following the exit of club captain John Terry.
Koulibaly’s valuation thought to be around €60m (£52m), and his agent refused to rule out a summer exit.
“Koulibaly? The transfer market is long as it will be open until August 31, something might happen before then,” player’s agent told Mondo Napoli.
“Chelsea? They are a world class team that many players would like to join but I don’t want to talk about this now.”
