Top 5 Chelsea News – The Blues To Begin Defence Of Premier League Title Against Burnley

Chelsea close to Manchester City goalkeeper signing; while Diego Costa’s brother reveals the Blues’s forward future. Asmir Begovic urges his former Chelsea teammate to join him at Bournemouth; as Blues striker unsure on future.

5. Asmir Begovic urges John Terry to join him at Bournemouth

New Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has urged former Chelsea teammate John Terry to join him at Bournemouth this summer.

Begovic will officially complete his £10m switch to the Cherries from Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens on July 1; but Terry, 36, remains without a club after ending his long association with the Blues.

“If he fancies Bournemouth it would be great to have him there. He’s a great player and a great guy as well, so from that point of view it would be really, really good,” he is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

“He’s obviously the best defender ever in the Premier League, he’s a legend at Chelsea and he deserves the right to make the right decision for himself and his family.”

“I hope he does whatever is right for him and he’s happy with the decision, and I wish him all the best for the future.”

Terry has also been linked with a move to Championship outfit Aston Villa.

4. Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham unsure on future

Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham has admitted that he is unsure where he will play his club football next season.

The 19-year-old scored 26 times for Championship side Bristol City during a loan spell last term; but the forward is heading back to his parent club ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion have both been linked with moves for Abraham; but the teenager has said that his future still remains undecided.

“I haven’t spoken with Chelsea yet. I am focusing on this tournament so the discussions will happen after,” Abraham told reporters.

“I’m not too sure [about my future]. Hopefully it will be in the Premier League. After this season I need to take myself to the next level. That’s the type of person I am, I always want to do better. I always want to do more. So going into the new season my aim will be to top this one.”

Abraham came through the youth system at Chelsea, and has made two first-team appearances for the Premier League champions.

3. Diego Costa has many offers – Player’s Brother

Diego Costa’s brother has confirmed that the Spain international striker has many offers; as he prepares to leave Chelsea this summer.

Last week, Costa revealed that Blues manager Antonio Conte had told him to leave Stamford Bridge this summer; after being deemed surplus to requirements ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

Jair Costa told Yahoo Esportes: “Diego, fortunately, has many offers. I cannot say how many there are, but they exist.”

The brother of the Chelsea forward, however, played down suggestions that the 28-year-old could move to the Chinese Super League.

“I think it’s very unlikely because there is the World Cup next year and Diego Costa wants to be there,” he added.

2. Chelsea close to Willy Caballero signing

Chelsea are reportedly close to signing former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

The 35-year-old ended his three-year spell at City of Manchester Stadium at the end of 2016/17 campaign.

The Argentine struggled for the number one spot with Claudio Bravo at the Etihad Stadium; but now he is looking for a new club after City’s £35m capture of Ederson from Benfica.

According to ESPN, Chelsea are in talks with Caballero about him becoming Asmir Begovic’s replacement; which would put him second string to Thibaut Courtois.

The former Malaga player is believed to have turned down a one-year deal at City.
