Football players are one of the most influential personalities in the world. In each country, there’s a large number of fans following this sport.
With such exposure for the sport and the players in this generation of social media, looking up to footballers to be role models for them or for kids to idolise these stars is not really a rare occurrence.
In fact, it is quite the opposite as there are only a handful of players who maintain good enough standards to be considered as role models.
8. IKER CASILLAS
He is Nicknamed ‘Saint Iker’, Casillas was probably the closest thing to a King or the Pope in Madrid. The fans loved him, the players adored him and even the media respected him.
Regardless, of what happened in his finals playing days at Real Madrid, the manner in which Iker handled the whole situation was remarkable and professional, to say the least. The great Italian keeper, Gianluigi Buffon called Iker his role model and there could possibly be no greater testimony to the greatness of Casillas than that.
And he was never involved in any media scandals which can ruin his reputation.
