Wenger facing a possible FIVE match touchline ban says former Referee

Former referee Graham Poll has called on the FA disciplinary committee to send a tough warning to Premier League managers by handing Arsenal boss a lengthy ban for appearing to push the fourth official in the 2-1 dramatic win against Burnley.

The Gunners boss was sent to the stands by referee Jon Moss after his furious reaction to Burnley penalty that levelled the match in extra-time. He however decided to stop in the tunnel because the match was about to end. He was asked to proceed to the stands by the fourth official Anthony Taylor but he shoved him aside.

“Arsene Wenger must surely face a lengthy touchline ban after he inexplicably went berserk and shoved fourth official Anthony Taylor,” said former referee

“Wenger was asked to leave the technical area, which the Arsenal manager reluctantly did but then tried staying in the tunnel, something he is not permitted to do. Taylor advised him to move, at which point Wenger lost it and appeared to shove the official.”

“Wenger and his team have benefited from plenty of ‘close calls’ by officials this season and he should have remembered that and stayed calm.”

The controversial win takes Arsenal to the 2nd place 8 points behind leaders Chelsea and one point ahead of North London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs.
